I decided to go with a summer theme "Watermelon". I thought it would be fun, colourful and what better way to enjoy the heat with some watermelon?
Here's a view of the weekly spread, alternating between pink and green ombre "To Do Lists".
I started off with finding colourful photos of watermelon stock photos off Pinterest, WeHeartIt and even Google (try googling "Kawaii Watermelon"). These were printed on my colour printer, although I don't have the highest quality printer, this does the trick:
I've purchased a relatively inexpensive paper trimmer from Staples to cut out the square pictures I printed.
This part takes time, I like the paper trimmer as it allows you to really cut precisely. Although scissors are good this trimmer has actually saved me so much time.
Next I laid out where I thought the pictures would look best, and alternated the Ombre Pink and Green "To Do" lists.
So these are NOT stickers, I glue them on using regular school glue. This has saved me a substantial amount of money since I don't own a Silhouette or Cricut to make my own.
Next I selected Washi Tape that fit the colour profile of the Watermelon Theme:
.. and carefully laid down my washi tape.
A little decorating tip - Use a thinner washi tape to overlay your larger washi tape to create a different effect!
I did the same thing with the green washi tape on the bottom third of the planner page:
My sidebar usually consists of an overview for the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc), a sticky note that has room for a quote, and a little mood sticky. ALl of these were from Recollections, purchased form Michaels.
To signify the "Weekend", I use an alphabet stamp purchased from Chapters.
& voila! The final layout:
